CHAMPION OF BRANDS

The Champion of Brands provides the Brands Hatch faithful with a regular supply of Formula Ford 1600 racing throughout the season, and the category that dates back to 1967 will be on-track twice at MSVR race meetings during the 2024 season.

The Champion of Brands was one of Formula Ford racing's leading championships during the late 1970s and 1980s, before disappearing from race schedules. Re-introduced by MSVR and James Beckett Motorsport in 2010, the Champion of Brands has since provided a welcome home for Formula Fordsters, providing them the opportunity to race their cars regularly at the legendary venue that hosted the first ever Formula Ford event fifty-seven years ago. 

The Champion of Brands runs within rounds of the United Formula Ford Championship, and enjoys its own points table that provides an opportunity for a driver from any one of its five classes to become the end-of-season 'Champion of Brands'. 

The reigning champion is Lucas Romanek, who secured the 2023 Champion of Brands crown at the end of a season that also saw him dominate United Formula Ford driving an Oldfield Motorsport-entered Star class (car manufactured Post '98) Van Diemen JL13.
