A special British championship finale edition of Motorsport News, the first to be published by MotorSport Vision (MSV), will go on sale tomorrow (Thursday 2 October). Print editions of this expanded issue of the respected title will be available to purchase in newsagents from Thursday, with a digital version available too.
To celebrate this landmark weekend in domestic motor racing, with Brands Hatch hosting the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) decider whilst the British GT Championship comes to a conclusion at Donington Park, complimentary copies of the publication will be available to event programme purchasers at both events, while stocks last. These will also be made available to event competitors, officials and volunteer marshals at no additional cost. Copies will also be on general sale in the circuits’ retail shops.
The bumper issue delves into everything you need to know ahead of the BTCC title decider at Brands Hatch, with Editor and long-time series correspondent Matt James leading the coverage. All of the support categories which come to a close at the Kent circuit on the same day receive comprehensive pre-weekend assessment from Stephen Lickorish.
British GT also receives the full treatment, with Deputy Editor Graham Keilloh examining the state of play ahead of Sunday’s two-hour season closer at Donington Park. This is complemented by a contribution from single-seater stalwart Marcus Simmons, who has outlined everything you need to know ahead of a crucial weekend for the GB3 and GB4 championships, the latter also holding its season finale in the East Midlands. Previews for the Ginetta series which complete the support bill are also included.
Beyond that, special feature content includes a full circle moment for cult hero touring car racer Karl Jones, who finally received the F1 test which his early career briefly promised. There is also a loving retrospective of Brands Hatch ahead of the circuit celebrating its centenary year in 2026.
The full offering includes the usual summary of international and national race and rally news, plus reports from race meetings, rallies and hillclimbs across the country last weekend. This week’s historic news section is also extended to reflect the number of updates from a thriving sector of the industry, with Paul Lawrence helming the coverage.
The arrival of a new issue coincides with a new look, including a modernised logo, higher quality of paper and taller format for the printed product. This week’s edition has also been extended from 40 to 48 pages to allow for a greater level of detail, something the publication is committed to repeating during busier weeks of the year. But the changes won’t end there and that’s where the readers will come in. A survey is being launched today at www.motorsportnews.co.uk to find out what customers would like to see from the title moving forwards. This is a chance for all readers to help steer national motorsport coverage moving forward.
Another exciting development is that the paper will return to a truly weekly format, with extended length issues throughout the year when necessary to appropriately report on busy weekends. A subscription deal will run from the October 9 issue, offering 12 issues until the end of the year for just £49.
Jonathan Palmer, Chief Executive of MSV commented: “I’m hugely excited about our first edition of Motorsport News. Our aim with this great title is to ensure that high-quality, enjoyable coverage of our national motorsport scene is readily and regularly available. To achieve this, we’ve made some initial detail changes, whilst increasing the depth of the previews this week. Readers will immediately notice a revised logo along with an improved quality of paper stock. These are small but key improvements, as we look to revitalise Motorsport News over the coming months.
“On top of that, we’ve added to the expertise of Matt James and Graham Keilloh by drafting in special expert contributors to leave no stone unturned across the BTCC and British GT support packages.
"We have a thriving motorsport industry in this country with so many good stories to tell, especially in a week when major national championships are going down to the wire. We’re committed to providing the best possible coverage, and I’m hoping for a positive reception from all our readers at the start of this exciting new era!”
