This weekend, July 1/2, is headlined by two exciting and dynamic events at Brands Hatch and Oulton Park. Along with the plethora of off-track entertainment that will be provided at each circuit, both events will feature thrilling racing programmes.
Brands Hatch hosts a debut event, Super Touring Power, that will transport spectators back to the ‘90s and celebrate one of the British Touring Car Championship’s most fondly remembered eras. Action will be headlined by the Classic Touring Car Racing Club, with ‘90s Super Touring machinery accompanied by other tin tops from the ‘60s, ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘00s. Further tin top thrills will be provided on Saturday courtesy of Trackday Championship. Trackday Championship remains as popular and well-subscribed as ever in 2023, with another bumper grid of production saloon, hatchback, and sports car racers expected to descend on mass to the Kent circuit on Saturday. The prestigious Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit configuration awaits Trackday Championship competitors for a 45-minute pitstop race, with vital points up for grabs. Steve Summers currently leads the overall standings by just eight points over Adrian Pottinger and will be looking to extend his advantage this weekend. Additionally, MSVR is eagerly anticipating the latest round of United Formula Ford, with the single-seater championship returning on Sunday. Lucas Romanek currently paves the way in the overall standings after an impressive start to his campaign. This is an especially exciting round for United Formula Ford, as it will be the first round of the 2023 Champion of Brands class. Who will seize the initiative and the lead the standings after an action-packed day on the Brands Hatch Indy circuit?
Elsewhere, on Saturday, the picturesque Oulton Park will host the returning Supercar Pageant. The Cheshire circuit will be packed with hundreds of the finest cars you can imagine, with Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Bentleys, Porsches and more filling the infield of the historic circuit. There will be plenty of eyes and attention on GT Cup for the championship’s fourth round of the 2023 season. We’ve been blessed with some exceptional racing this season so far and expect this to again be the theme at Oulton Park. After the opening three rounds, Paul Bailey and Ross Wylie have amassed a small buffer at the head of the overall standings. However, there’s plenty of racing and points to be had on Saturday – and plenty of talented rivals vying to decrease the gap to the leading duo! Fans of Porsche machinery are in for a treat, with Porsche Club Championship, Boxster Cup and Porsche Club Open Cup all in attendance. Things are really starting to heat up in Porsche Club Championship, with seven points separating the top two (Steve Wood and Pete Morris) in Class 1 and just six points separating Oliver Chatham and Paul Simpson in Class 2. After three rounds in the Boxster Cup, Jon Lovell continues to go from strength to strength. The #21 driver has enjoyed an incredibly prosperous start to the campaign and leads the way by over fifty points! After debuting at Anglesey in May, MSVR is excited to see the second installment of the new-for-2023 Porsche Club Open Cup this weekend at Oulton Park. Last, but by no means least, the ever-competitive Focus Cup kickstarts it’s second half of the season in Cheshire this Saturday. Action is anticipated to be as close as ever, with the importance of each and every point available paramount. Lewis Clark will hope to end the weekend still at the top of the overall championship standings, having enjoyed a tremendous trip to Snetterton last time out.
