For 2026 the Junior Sportbike National Championship and machine eligibility will be opened to any manufacturer model in the sector with a performance equivalence of 73hp established, this would include the current Kawasaki ZX-4RR, Kove 450RR Pro, Yamaha YZF-R7 amongst other potential models.

Represented manufacturers are being encouraged to organize academy and manufacturer affinity programs to widen and encourage participation. A key aspect of this new open Junior Sportbike class is to develop a technical pathway so that an entry level machine can evolve into the higher specification British Sportbike class and therefore make the transition from classes more affordable.
